ABOUT US

Jeff Neal's Volume Blast

Hello,

My name is Jeff Neal, and I have been actively and successfully trading the markets since 1996. I hold an MBA in Finance from the University of Indianapolis and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Indiana University.

I am a veteran trader who consistently posts profits by strategically applying options to the stock and ETF markets. As an expert risk manager, I combine technical analysis, fundamental analysis, and options to create an optimal risk-to-reward profile. I have been a long-time trading mentor and a prolific writer with many published articles, some of which have been featured in Futures and Stocks and Commodities magazines.

Over the years, I have interviewed many of the top traders in the business, discussing the secrets of their trading success. In addition to my trading and writing experience, I also was a radio show market correspondent who discussed the best stocks and options for the week. I am passionate about trading the markets. As a mentor, I constantly emphasize concentrating on risk management. This has been the cornerstone of my trading success.

Volume Blast Trader Objective

To locate stocks that significantly move either up or down on relatively huge volume. These types of days are significant from a trading perspective because they typically identify exuberant crowd behavior. This phenomenon usually manifests itself after a key fundamental news announcement. An entry will be signaled on the bullish side when the stock exceeds the high of the volume-blast day. For a bearish trade, an entry will be signaled when the price moves beneath the low of the volume-blast day.

When trading the volume-blast system, we typically are looking for the volume spike to be at least two times the average daily volume and to have a noticeable gap on the volume-spike day. The system is based on the tendency for markets to make a move in momentum one way or another after a volume blast.

When trading options, we will use in-the-money options, since they have a higher delta and will trade more like the underlying stock.
